Jonathon Duckworth

Jonathan Duckworth is a pioneering new media artist and founder of ZedBuffer. His interests focus on the design, interaction, presence, and psychological effects of digital environments, having specialized in the development of interactive 3D graphics for over nine years at the Virtual Reality Centre, RMIT University, Melbourne. Duckworth holds a Bsc. Hons (1st Class) and Postgraduate Architectural degree from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, and a Masters of Design (Industrial Design) from RMIT University. Duckworth is currently undertaking a PhD at the School of Media and Communication, RMIT.AArti

As a digital artist and architectural designer Jonathan Duckworth operates between art and technology, in the field of design and new media arts practice. He has a particular interest in exploring kinaesthetic experience and the aesthetics of interactivity as it relates to understanding multi-modal qualities of digital and physical space. Jonathan's work is informed by a broad range of current research in virtual reality graphics technology, interaction design, physical computing and new electronic materials that bring to the fore unprecedented scope to modify our spatial experiences.

He has collaborated extensively as an artist and designer in a number of large scale projects working at the Virtual Reality Centre, RMIT University, and continues to do so through ZedBuffer. His digital art works and designs have been shown nationally and internationally including group exhibitions, SuperHuman, Melbourne (2009); Thinking Through the Body, Sydney, (2009); ReSkin, Canberra (2007); White Noise, Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Melbourne (2005).Unnatural Selection, Ars Electronica, Linz, Austria (2004); Perceptual Difference, Biennale of Electronic Arts Perth -BEAP04, John Curtin Gallery, Curtin University of Technology, Perth, (2004).
