The words presented in this performance-based video are taken from the title of an early Elvis song. In keeping with McMillan’s interest in endurance, melancholy and the dichotomy of speed alongside slowness, this work comprises an hour-long performance sped-up by splicing to one minute. The video shows the artist mouthing the words ‘I love you. I want you. I need you’.

I dislike mowing lawns, though not simply due to laziness. There's a lot more to it than that. The lawn in this video belongs to my Grandfather. For reasons that don't even make sense to me, I often think of The Stooges whilst I mow it. One day I won't have to mow this lawn anymore, and that will be great. But there's a lot more to that too.

Aspects of life in London seen from an imagined and somewhat dystopian future. The presenter on the screen has the scars of a serious burning across his face. It was produced while Perry was teaching at Hornsey College of Art in London. The project, based on the idea of looking back from some future time at what had been happening in London immediately after the Paris student revolution of 1968 and the unrest in British colleges over the same time, imagines that some 'documents' of material shot around London during this period have been discovered.

Gruchy was very interested in the growing area of computer graphics and their ability to morph imagery and indeed states. With no access to computers at that time, the vision was an analogue of some of the transforms that we were just beginning to see for the first time.

It consisted of a single screen and a set of hand-drawn slides.

The dissolve unit was set at a fixed dissolve time and period.

The music was inspired by Frippertronics , Fripp and Eno’s use of systems music at that time.

A series of drawings from 1979 (when I was living in the Shepherd & Newman Warehouse in Darlinghurst, Sydney) are reworked as video imagery through a series of negative/positive video mattes and wipes. The same set of imagery is repeated on two monitors turned alternatively on their left and right sides to create a form of “physical” animation using the actual monitors.
