Commisioned for 2nd Asian Art Biennial, Taichung

Clesthyra is a fictional mythological character from Neil Stephenson’s Anathem, who can see in all directions at once. This works breaks down and subverts that possibility. It subtly draws the audience’s attention within the 360º screen space, playing with the shifting boundaries between disambiguity and ambiguity. The work moves its audience.

Troy Innocent explores the multiplicity of codes in the contemporary mediascape, exploring the connections between language and reality. His work invites people to play in worlds that emerge from transmedia ecologies – complex systems of virtual and actual signs and entities. In his practice he has developed a unique aesthetic vocabulary that spans interaction, design, sculpture, animation, sound and installation.

Victoria Lynn is a curator, writer and essayist. She was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1963 and was appointed Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of NSW in 1987. From 1991 until 2001 she served as curator of Contemporary Art. During her tenure at the AGNSW she curated or co-curated numerous exhibitions covering a wide range of art practices from painting to video, film and new media. As co-curator of Australian Perspecta with Tony Bond in 1989 - and as curator of its 1991 and 1993 outings - Lynn included video art works by a host of Australian artists.
